I admit it: I have a severe case of technophobia.  I just started texting about 6 months ago.  I couldn’t stand reading the book Mr. Roller Coaster made me read on his Kindle.  I have no idea how to use all the features on my iPod or my fancy camera.  And when I once sat in front of someone’s Mac, I had no idea what I was looking at and had to ask for help just to get on the internet.  So it was a big step for me to ask Mr. Roller Coaster to buy me an iPhone.

I swore I’d never cross over to the dark side of the latest technology.  And I’m not the kind of person who wants something just because everyone else has it.  But for some reason, I felt the need to get myself an iPhone.  Mr. Roller Coaster was thrilled.

So now I have this iPhone that my husband already set up, and I’m looking at it and thinking: Now what?  Where do I start?  What do I do with this thing?

What are your favorite features on your iPhone?  What are the coolest apps you can’t live without?

  1. Props to you- I still don't get the whole smart phone thing. Mine is an LG Envy 2, and it does everything I need a phone to do: make and answer calls! 🙂

  2. The application I use most is called Instagram. It's a photo sharing application. Most my friends and I snap random photos of things that catch our eye throughout the day and share them. It's fun to see what my friends back home see on a daily basis, watch their little ones grow day-by-day and just feel like I am a part of their lives 1700 miles away. (:

Other applications I can't live without are Facebook, Lose It! (a weight loss application), Yelp (I use it to find a good rated restaurant when we want to try something new), and USAA (for banking). Those are my most used apps, but I have about 45 more that I love, too!

Hope you like your new iPhone! I don't know how I used to operate before mine. It has become my computer, camera, map/GPS, and phone all in one handy device. (:

    Good luck!

  3. I love my iPhone!! Some of the apps I use a lot are
Viber (it allows you to talk to another Viber user for free without using your minutes) my hubby has it on his phone so when he's in port in Japan we can talk as much as we want.

My Fitness Pal it allows me to track my food and my workouts on the go.

I also like the Groupon and Living Social apps.

  4. Oh Roller Coaster, we should have lunch and split a bottle of vodka while I introduce you to your new bestie. I am so in love with my iPhone, I would be more panicked about losing it over one of my kids.
Important things: the ipod, a flashlight, a cozi.com app/calendar, twitter, and email.
    GL;)

  5. I've discovered the Pinterest app on my iPad & it does wonders for passing the time. I could literally be on there for hours on end! Think of it as a virtual cork board, giving you the ability to "tag" any image you find on the internet, and categorize it exactly how you like. you can "repin" other users images as well…it's a great "chick site" as my husband says! 🙂
