As I mentioned yesterday, I’m spending this week on stay-cation. Hubby is on leave, and the kids are with their grandparents. I love my children dearly, but sometimes it’s nice to have a little break from being a mom 24/7.
Of course there are things about my children that I don’t miss: the fighting in the backseat of the car, the refusals to get dressed in the morning, the whining about summer boredom. But there are definitely things about those little munchkins that I do miss. Here are my…
Top 10 Reasons I Miss My Kids
10) Their smiles
9) Watching as they come down the stairs in the morning and search the house for the puppy because all they want to do is play with him
8) Giggles
7) Checking in on them as they sleep (And yes, even though they’re ages 7 and nearly 4, I still watch for the rise and fall of their chests to make sure they’re still breathing.)
6) Big C’s intricate Lego configurations (and his explanations of the engineering behind them)
5) Little C’s continuous stream of artwork (and her explanations of the meaning behind them)
4) Watching SpongeBob SquarePants with them in the morning before we go to the gym (Is it strange that I LOVE SpongeBob?)
3) Listening to them play in Big C’s room (or “Lego Land”) when they’re actually getting along
2) Hugs and kisses!
1) The sweet I love you’s whispered in my ear when I least expect them
Have you ever been apart from your children? What do you miss most about them?
oh lucky you! I've often said, if I could just have a whole week to myself it would be heaven!
Mine have only spent one night away from home before. I missed them at 10 pm that night when I knew they weren't in their own beds. After a couple hours I was ready to get my whining, bratty, loud, rugrats back home. lol
My daughter will be sixteen next month and I still check to make sure she's breathing. 🙂
This is very cute. I wish I missed my kids right now, I fear I'm missing school more than they are!
When I'm away from my kids, I miss being able to watch them sleep, and wake up them in the morning. I miss the routines we create, and simply knowing they are there. *sigh* Would love a vacation right now.

Mine are 15 and 10 and I still watch for them breathing.
Last year my hero took my kids for a week to go camping. I had been away from them before but we were at a new duty station and they all went with him. It was horrible. I missed them. That was until 5 minutes after he got home
Your kids are the same age as mine and sound very similar. We constantly have lego creations and artwork strewn all over the house!
I'm not usually away from them more than a few hours or at most at day, but last month my hubby came home on R&R and he and I went away for the two weeks – alone! We had an awesome time, but I sure missed my babies!
